Introduction
I led the development of a commemorative mobile application celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Geodesy, Spatial Planning, and Environmental Management (WGiSzM). This project went beyond creating a simple information platform – it became a digital bridge connecting generations of students, faculty members, and alumni through interactive storytelling. By weaving together the faculty's rich history with modern digital interactions, we created an engaging narrative that brings the institution's legacy to life.
The Challenge
Managing a large design team with limited resources pushed us to think creatively and strategically. The core challenge lay in orchestrating multiple creative voices while maintaining design cohesion and meeting strict budget constraints. We needed to find innovative ways to deliver premium quality without premium resources, all while ensuring our diverse team of designers could contribute effectively to the project's vision.
The Solution
I implemented a collaborative framework that transformed our constraints into opportunities for innovation. By establishing clear communication channels and leveraging tools like Miro and Figma, our team of four UX/UI designers and three developers worked in perfect synchronization. We crafted an efficient workflow that made the most of our open-source resources while maintaining high-quality standards.
The animation design process became a particular point of pride. Using Adobe After Effects, we created fluid transitions and meaningful micro-interactions that brought the interface to life. Each animation was purposefully designed to enhance user engagement while reflecting the faculty's professional identity. This attention to detail resulted in an interface that feels both sophisticated and approachable.
Achievements
Our team transformed budget limitations into a catalyst for innovation. The resulting application exceeded expectations, delivering a platform that not only serves its practical purpose but creates an emotional connection with its users. We successfully balanced technical requirements with artistic expression, creating an application that serves as both an information hub and a celebration of the faculty's journey.
Conclusion
This project demonstrates how thoughtful design and strategic collaboration can overcome resource constraints to create meaningful digital experiences. By focusing on user needs and maintaining high design standards, we delivered an application that honors the faculty's past while embracing modern digital innovation. The success of this project proves that with the right approach, limitations can become opportunities for creative excellence in digital product design.
