Tech Agency Website

A software house website with live creative coding visualizations that reflect the company's real-time development activity.

problem

The old website was generic and uninspiring. The founders had chosen colors they liked and used a free template, which was fine for getting started but did nothing to differentiate the company as it tried to scale. The branding felt random and disconnected from what the company actually did. Potential clients visiting the site had no clear sense of the company's capabilities or work style. The website wasn't telling the story it needed to tell, and that was costing opportunities.

solution

A redesigned website with a marketing-led structure that showcases the company's technical strength through live creative coding visualizations. Using TouchDesigner and Python, I created animations that change based on the amount of code written by developers each day, tracked through historical data and Slack availability status. The new brand identity includes a redesigned logo built on a thoughtful grid system, a cohesive color palette, and typography that reflects the company's professionalism. The site clearly communicates what the company does and how they work, with CTAs that guide visitors toward contact and demo requests.

I joined the project in 2023 as Designer and Creative Coder, handling UX, branding, logo design, animations, creative coding, and marketing strategy over six months. This project was also my master's thesis, which meant I had both academic rigor and real business stakes pushing me to get it right.

The UX work started with restructuring the site to follow a marketing-led narrative. Every page needed to clearly answer what the company does, how they work, and why they're different. The old template scattered information without building a coherent story. I mapped out key pages and CTAs to create a flow that guided visitors naturally toward conversion points.

The brand redesign was comprehensive. The old logo and colors felt arbitrary, so I started from scratch. The new logo was built on a deliberate grid system with thoughtful forms that communicated precision and technical capability. The palette and typography choices supported that message, creating a visual identity that felt modern and professional without being sterile.

The creative coding became the signature feature of the site. I used TouchDesigner and Python to generate visualizations that reflected real development activity. By analyzing commit bursts and tracking data from developer laptops, I created animations that gave visitors a window into the company's workflow. The visualizations weren't just decorative, they were meaningful representations of how the team worked and how active the codebase was. This approach made the site feel alive and dynamic, which perfectly captured the energy of a software house.

Performance was a consideration throughout. I set targets for frame rates and asset budgets to keep the animations smooth without bogging down load times. The technical implementation required balancing visual impact with practical constraints, but the result was a site that felt fast and responsive even with live data visualizations running.

Testing and iteration came from both internal feedback and analytics. Developers and designers on the team helped me refine timing and density of the visualizations, making sure they enhanced rather than overwhelmed the content. I documented the process thoroughly so future updates could maintain the same quality and approach.

The marketing outcomes were clear. Time on page increased, bounce rates dropped, and the click-through rate to the "contact us" button improved significantly. Conversion rates went up, and the company started landing more clients who specifically mentioned the website as a factor in their decision to reach out. The project demonstrated that branding and technical creativity aren't separate disciplines. When they work together, they create experiences that are both beautiful and effective.
